Competitions are conducted in accordance with I.A.A.F., LAA NSW and Local Rules.

Usual weekend competition is run at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen on Saturday mornings from 8 am (with the occasional Friday night twilight session). Competition finishes before midday at the beginning of the season while the athletes acclimatise to a new season, and usually finishes between 10:30am and 11:00am later in the season. Each athlete competes in their club colours in the weekend competition.

The main program of events begins between 7.30 am – 8.00am. However, events such as the 1500 metre run, race walks and 300 metre hurdles are held closer to 7.30am (see below). For age groups who run 3000 metres, this event is held at 5.45pm on Mondays.

Each age group is run by an Age Manager who controls and leads the group from event to event and supervises their competition. The Age Manager is assisted by a team of parent helpers to assist in the running of the competition. Athletes compete against each other in a variety of events on each competition day. The running events are divided into heats where the athletes are graded by ability by the Age Manager on a weekly basis.

The Manly Warringah Little Athletics Centre welcomes visitors who are registered with other NSW Little Athletics Centres to its weekend competition. Each visit is $10. All visitors must report to the computer room to be entered into the Manly Warringah Little Athletics Centre system and be given a competition number prior to competing at each visit. Children wishing to try Little Athletics before deciding if they would like to register are able to trial for 2 weeks (trial fee applies). All trialists must report to the computer room before attending competition.

Following children around at competition

Only those parents that are signed on to perform a duty are allowed within the competition area (including helping the Age Manager). If you are signed on to perform a duty then you must perform the duty that you are signed on to do. It is not a “free pass” inside the competition area. The children can be watched from outside the competition area (i.e. behind the fence or outside of throwing areas) by their parents. If you are keen to be with your child during competition then please sign on as an Age Manager helper at the sign-on desk located inside the front gates.

Results

We use a program called ResultsHQ to track reuslts across all age groups. These are either updated as the event occurs, or shortly afterwards. You will need to set up a login to access your athlete’s results.

Please note, representative carnivals are not reflected on ResultsHQ. You can view these results through the LANSW website.
