Medical Advice
Asthma
Athletes who suffer from asthma should bring this condition to the attention of the respective Age Managers and always have their inhalers available. Many factors may trigger an asthma attack. Please ensure that your child is aware of his or her limitations by checking with your family doctor before competing.
Heat Stress
Young children are prone to rapid dehydration and therefore all athletes MUST wear a hat, bring a flask of drinking water, 30+ Sun Blockout and a tracksuit or warm clothing.
Injuries
Athletes who sustain injuries during training or competition or who are experiencing injuries sustained from other sports must obtain and lodge a Medical Certificate with the Centre Officer for Age Managers before competing again.
Viral Illness
Many viral infections consistently go around and we strongly recommend to all parents that athletes take sufficient time to allow for a full recovery before being permitted to compete again. In the event of serious and/or prolonged illness a Medical Certificate may be requested before an athlete is allowed to recommence competition.
First Aid
The Centre has St Johns Ambulance medical staff attend each week. If hospital treatment is necessary, it is assumed that parental permission is given, or if not, please advise your Club Secretary immediately in writing. Parents should be in attendance on Saturdays and at training to assist immediately should their child be injured.
