The Narrabeen track was closed in December 2023 due to assessed safety risks. We have been working with the Office of Sport and members of Parliament to have the facility repaired and upgraded and the 2025-26 NSW budget includes the funding to allow that to happen. We thank the NSW Government for addressing this critical infrastructure issue.
The Office of Sport has advised that the upgraded facility will feature a World Athletics compliant, synthetic athletics track complete with a new asphalt subbase, a moisture resilient track surface, improved stormwater drainage and supporting infrastructure.
The next steps involve developing a construction timeline which outlines when works will commence and when the new track is expected to re-open. While the new track is being constructed, the temporary grass athletics track will continue to be available to the athletics community.
